everyone here's either stoned or 65
and i can't get high without getting so high i end up trying to pry out both of my eyes
so i guess i'll hang with them middle aged guys
and we'll drink bud lite and make fun our wives
and we'll keep our emotions bottled up tight
until our kid home from college finds us post-suicide

these days i've got a big ol' stick up my ass
and you can't get far without money or gas and when the tree in your trunk is still growing in the grass
and now even the poets are starting to get crass
and the catholics among us are slinging that sass
and i'll be laying away, getting off on the past, just trying to get this godforsaken stick out of my ass

and i don't know much, but i know it ain't right,
this fruitless kind of living keeps me up at night

you can float right on down by the rive styx
and the watchman watches while the sitman sits
but you keep your eyes wide for the keeper of the crypt
he says "cough up a quarter or you ain't getting it"
but the only thing you've got is a mouthful of spit
and so you walk home looking like an idiot with your hands shoved deep inside your coat pockets

and i don't know much, but i know it ain't right,
this fruitless kind of living keeps me up at night

but when the big bomb drops (and i know that it will)
i'm telling you dog this shit'll get ill
it's man eat man. it's kill or be killed
it's america's next top king of the hill
and i'll be all stocked up on melatonin pills, hibernating through the winter while the first blood spills
